JoCo to Start Yoga for Kids Classes Oct. 11

 

Yoga for Kids is for ages 3 through 5. The program's aim is to introduce children to the basics of yoga and help them release some of their energy in a positive way. Youths are invited to learn how to pose like a gorilla, tree, butterfly, blowfish, an airplane, and more.

The class meets at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday beginning Oct. 11 at the Fieldhouse, 551 New Century Parkway. The cost for six 60 -minute sessions is $60 per person for Johnson County residents or $66 for nonresidents.

KU Hawk Talk Football Kick-Off Rally Set for Sept. 1

(PRESS RELEASE) Kansas football head coach Turner Gill will launch his weekly radio show on Thursday, Sept. 1 as part of the Hawk Talk Kick Off Rally. Hawk Talk with Turner Gill will move to the Salty Iguana on the corner of 6th St., and Wakarusa in 2011 and the season-long show will begin with a bang as it will be a part of a kick off pep rally for Kansas football fans.

The Hawk Talk Kick Off Rally will open at 5 p.m., in the Salty Iguana parking lot with inflatable games for kids, various KU giveaways and multiple vendors on site. Hawk Talk with Turner Gill will broadcast live from inside Salty Iguana from 6-7 p.m.

KC Blaze Soccer Tryouts This Week

 

KC Blaze Soccer Club tryouts will be held through June 19. Tryouts are scheduled for boys and girls teams ages U8- U18. The Club is also seeking U-17 and U-18 Boys with a desire to play college soccer and compete in a number of college showcase tournaments throughout the season.

MOOS MARKET Shopping Extravaganza

 The MOOS Market is being held on Saturday, Feb. 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be held at Olathe South High School, 1640 E. 151st.

There will be a wide variety of vendors & merchandise.  MOOS (Moms of Olathe South) is part of the Falcon Football Booster Club and this fundraiser benefits the Olathe South football program. Concessions will be available.

Garder-Edgerton Gets National Exposure on ESPN-U

It's a big week for Gardner-Edgerton High School! Their football game will be televised on ESPN U on Friday. The team will take on St. Thomas Aquinas.

The star quarterback, Bubba Starling has made a verbal commitment to play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Major League Baseball also has its eye on Starling.

He was also named to the Army All American Game on Tuesday. The coach is excited about the national exposure.

"Our kids enjoy the attention," said Marvin Dience. "It's hard to rise to the top and hard to stay there."

The game is Friday night at 7 p.m. on ESPN-U.
