Kansas Man Has Record-Setting Tonsils

Kansas Man Has Record-Setting Tonsils

A 21-year-old Topeka man, Justin Werner, has the largest tonsils on record in the world.

In June, Guinness World Records informed him of this honor, which for years caused him chronic sore throats and serious snoring.

He finally had surgery in January to remove his large tonsils. One of his tonsils was 2.1 inches long, 1.1 inches wide and 0.7 inch thick. The other as 1.9 inches long, 1 inch wide and .7 inch thick.

Guinness told him he easily beat the previous record held by Justin Dodge of Milwaukee.

Werner's doctor, Tyler Grindal, told The Topeka Capital-Journal that it's impossible to know why Werner's tonsils were so large.
