Joe’s Weather Blog: Snow and “The Whales Mouth”

It almost sounds like a fairy tale doesn’t it…but just like the Royals 1st 10 games or so it’s our reality or perhaps for some our nightmare. Springtime in the Plains can be a cruel thing…known for it’s crazy weather…I’d say we’re on the cruel end of things this morning at least.

This morning…radar echoes are increasing as I type this with some bands of moderate snow developing along the I-35 corridor and spreading NEwards. It’s not out of the question as the snow rates pick up some could see some minor accums on the grassy areas before lunch. Temperatures will stay near 32° with wind chills near 20° this morning.

Afternoon: Snow ends and cloudy skies start to clear up. Temperatures max out 35-40°. Winds will start to drop off later this afternoon…blustery to say the least.

Blue Valley H.S. freshman was first victim of Sunday’s shootings

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The mother of the 14-year-old boy killed in the April 13th shooting at the Jewish Community Center spoke at a prayer vigil Sunday night. Her father was also a victim in Sunday’s shooting.

“I came upon the scene very, very quickly,” Mindy Corporan, mother, said. “I was there before the police, and I was there before the ambulance — and I knew immediately that they were in heaven.”

Friends of 14-year-old Reat Underwood said they miss their friend and classmate. They started a Facebook memorial page in his honor entitled: Wear White for Reat.
